The 2018 Young, Gifted & Empowered Awards (YG&E) Presented by Patty Peck Honda were held Saturday, March 3 at Jackson Prep. YG&E honors young African American professionals from Mississippi who are leaders in art, education, entrepreneurship, leadership, philanthropy and innovation. The 2018 honorees included:

Greg Durrell, Entrepreneur of the Year

Dr. Nashlie Sephus, Innovator of the Year

Pastor CJ Rhodes, Leader of the Year

Dr. Michael Cormack, Jr., Educator of the Year

Mike Burton, Artist of the Year

Doug & Kinshasa Watson, Philanthropist of the Year

The evening was filled with inspiring stories, phenomenal performances and black excellence at its best.  The YG&E broadcast is scheduled to air Sunday, April 29th at 2 p.m. on WLOO TV My 35 (Comcast channel 11 / Direct TV channel 35).
