Minority Businesses Honored At Annual Awards Gala

The Mississippi Minority Business Alliance (MMBA) hosted its’ 11th Annual Awards Gala, September 30 at the Marriott Hotel in Jackson, Miss. to honor minority business owners. This year’s theme was “A Legacy of Excellence: Inspire a New Generation of Minority-Owned Businesses.” Attorney, scholar and orator Thomas N. Todd, who served as the guest speaker, not only commended the honorees, but challenged them to continue forward. “We honor you for not just what you have done, but for what you must do in the future. We need your commitment, we need your mind, we need your integrity, your honesty and your decency.”

“As mayor I remain committed to increasing the minority participation of contractors across the city of Jackson. We have the equal business opportunity program and we have an officer who is assigned to that program particularly. We boast a high level of participation for minority businesses here on city projects,” said Mayor Harvey Johnson.
