The “We Are Jackson” Concert Series – a slate of performances highlighting the Capital City’s best talent in music, comedy and the arts – will be held Oct. 8-11. The series will give citizens an opportunity to enjoy quality concerts at Thalia Mara Hall and adjoining venues for low ticket prices. Tickets can be purchased at the local Ticketmaster office. The schedule of events:
Thursday, October 8 – “Tunes on the Green” Fall Expo. A free event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy a diverse lineup of live music, plus food vendors and other organizations. Lawn chairs and blankets allowed. Performances by The Central MS Blues Society, Lucky Hand Blues Band, Silas, and the Rock Band, Storage 24

Friday, October 9 – The “These Are Just Jokes” comedy show. The show is a lineup of Jackson’s best comedic talents, including Lavelle Leggett, Yancey Otis, and David Mallard. Includes musical performances. Ticket costs are $15 or less.

Saturday, October 10 – Bobby Rush Presents: The “We Are Jackson” concert finale. Performances by R&B singer, Syleena Johnson, neo-soul songstress, Tawanna Shaunte, JJ Thames, Pam Confer, and teen R&B singer, JAbria Randle. General admission ticket costs are $35 or less.

Sunday, October 11 – The 4th Annual “Pink the Runway” Breast Cancer Awareness fashion show. The event will be held outside on the steps of Thalia Mara Hall.
