Toot toot beep beep…the sounds of learning are on the way. Andrea Jones, owner of the Toot, Teach, and Roll Mobile Learning Center, has found a creative way to teach traditional lessons to elementary-age children.
In March of 2011, Jones rolled out the innovative mobile learning lab inside of a school bus that was painted a bright blue and the inside gutted and rehabbed. Jones had all the seats removed and replaced with individual learning stations. She travels to local schools, community centers and churches throughout Mississippi taking students on an exploratory field trip; teaching and enhancing comprehension, communication, interaction and character building skills.
“I wanted to introduce and integrate different types of art into the community,” she said. “My bus idea allows me to travel to communities and expose individuals to various forms of art while learning and being hands on.”

In her former life, she worked in the sales and marketing department at BellSouth Mobility. Now when she’s not out touring the community with her big blue bus, she can be found in one of Jackson Public Schools’ classroom as an instructional technology facilitator.
“I’ve always like to train,” she explains. “It was through the classes that I took while receiving my master’s where I feel in love with training children. I thought teaching was the way to go because we’ll always have someone to educate.”
Her passion for hands-on teaching and training others resulted in the mobile bus project. Jones also offers programs for adults. The classes include parenting, leadership development, tutoring, computer and health and wellness.
The Toot, Teach and Roll Mobile Learning Center is not just for community events, but is also available for birthday parties. To request a visit from the mobile learning lab, call Jones at 769-257-0944.
